Fear of Success

It’s real, but it seems so strange, right? Why on earth would we fear success?
I find it helpful to consider the subconscious mind as the part of you that wants to keep you safe above all else. The best way for it to keep you safe is to make sure nothing ever changes.
If you move forward on your desires — starting that business you’ve always dreamt about, putting yourself out there after the breakup with your partner, making the money you know you deserve, leaving the religion because you no longer believe the doctrine/dogma — these types of things require change. Change equals new territory, the unknown. Your subconscious equates this with danger.
The perceived danger is also tribal and societal. If you succeed (aka, change), there are people in your life who will resist the changes you’re making. These people will let you know that you’ve changed and that they don’t like it. Even though your dreams are coming true, they are sad and angry about it. And it has nothing to do with you, by the way. They are projecting their frustration with their own fear of success onto you, as in, they are envious of your courage. But I’ll save all of that for another post.
The point is, fear of success is very real and if you conquer it, you are well on your way to your whole life changing for the better. Your subconscious mind is superb at learning new ways to keep you safe. It’s been doing this since you were a baby. If you’re ready to face your fear of success and teach your subconscious new ways of keeping you safe, book a session with me.
