Resistance

Resistance is not your friend. It is your enemy. Whatever contribution you seek to make in this world. Whatever change you desire to make happen in your life. Resistance will seek to destroy your efforts. Resistance will seek to destroy you. It’s nothing personal. It’s the job of Resistance to make sure you don’t succeed. It will come in every form possible. Food. Alcohol. Sex. Tiredness. Exhaustion. Shame. Guilt. Critics. Even support from the ones who love you most, telling you just to take a break and relax. And the work you seek to do — in the world and in your life — it just keeps on not happening.
The only way to make sure you succeed and do what you set out to do, is to show up every single day for the fight. You’ve gotta fight Resistance with everything you’ve got. And you can do it because the core of you is strong enough to win. But you can’t give Resistance an inch. He’ll take it. And then some. You gotta slay him like the damn-son-of-a-bitch that he is.
Once you do that. You win.
Today.
He’ll show up again tomorrow morning.
Then you get to show up and start the fight all over again.
You are worth it. Your work is worth it. Get in the ring (your life) and fight like hell.
Resistance is not your friend, but the fight against it is a gift to you. It lets you show the world and yourself who you really are — which is nothing short of amazing.
